Freedom Isn't Free, And Neither Is Taking a Photo With Newt Gingrich
For many of us, getting a photo taken with Newt Gingrich isn't on the bucket list, but some people would pay good money for a snapshot with the Republican presidential candidate. And they'll have to, because as of today, Gingrich is charging $50 for photos at public speaking events.
Before now, Gingrich supporters have been able to pose for pictures free of charge. Those photos were then uploaded to his website, so that you could show off to all your friends and family. You can still get yourself featured on the site, as long as you're willing to shell out the 50 bucks.
On Monday night, those paying for a photograph were also told they could find their photos on Gingrich's website, after they had filled out a form providing their credit card information.
To be fair, the Gingrich campaign is in need of some funds, and charging for photos is a quick way to do that. On the other hand, it recalls those sad little booths at Comic-Con where you can pay to have your picture taken with the original Timmy from Lassie.
