If You Live In New Orleans, Find Russell Brand and Make a Citizen’s Arrest (UPDATE)
TMZ is reporting that the New Orleans Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for comedian Russell Brand after he allegedly grabbed a paparrazo's phone and hurled it through the window of a nearby office building earlier this week.
For the record: representatives for Brand reached out to a gentleman who was in the office at the time the phone came hurtling through the window and promised to pay for the damage. (He's a good shot; it was totally smashed.)
Earlier today, Brand acknowledged the phone tossing incident on Twitter, calling it "a tribute" to the late Steve Jobs:
Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.
The misdemeanor warrant is for simple criminal damage to property.
Jackie Q could not be reached for comment.
Update: Apparently, the law in Louisiana limits the already tenuous legality of citizens' arrests to situations involving felony-level crimes only. If you have already performed a citizen's arrest of Russell Brand, shake his hand and apologize for the error.
Update: Russell Brand has turned himself in. Good work, citizens.
