A few weeks ago, Mitt Romney stuffed his foot in his mouth after proving to the common folk at a NASCAR race that he was a fan of the sport because he has "some great friends who are NASCAR team owners." This week, he somehow crammed the other foot in there by repeating almost literally the exact same thing about the NFL.

Romney was on sports radio monarch Paul Finebaum's show yesterday afternoon when the host tossed up a softball, according to NYT's Caucus blog. Peyton Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, had just been released from the Indianapolis Colts. Where did Romney, a Patriots fan, hope he'd end up?

"I'm surprised to hear that Denver's thinking about him," Mr. Romney said. "I don't want him in our neck of the woods, let's put it that way."

"I've got a lot of good friends, the owner of the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, both owners are friends of mine," he added. "But let's keep him away from New England."

Yes, let's. Also, Mitt: Let's take a break from explaining your wealth every week. We know that you are rich! This is like an unpopular middle school student bragging about his dad's motorboat. The only people who can relate to you having countless millionaire friends, Mitt, are other millionaires. And we're pretty sure you're all set with their vote, because all of your friends are millionaires.
