Today in the New York Times, restaurant critic Pete Wells compares eight well-regarded New York City burgers — leaving us to wonder, if these are the best burgers in New York, which is the worst? We want to find out. But we need your help.

There are a lot of bad hamburgers in New York City, and we mean to try them all. But we want to make sure we're being as comprehensive as possible. So we're soliciting suggestions in the comments. Where is, in your opinion, the worst burger in New York City?

A few ground rules: No national fast food chains, unless the burger is so unbelievably heinous as to surpass the general terribleness of fast-food burgers. No contrarianism — I don't care if you hate Shake Shack or Corner Bistro; they don't have the worst burgers in New York. And please share why the burger is so particularly bad. There's a lot at stake here. We're curious here if the rule for pizza and sex — that it's "good even when it's bad" — holds true for burgers.

We'll sift through the nominations later this week and use a highly-scientific formula to select a group of winners for the next round: The taste test.

Non-New Yorkers, please feel free to share your horror stories of the worst burgers ever!
