The Antarctic region is losing its glaciers to global warming, but now comes evidence humans are helping erode the ice masses in a more direct way: Chilean authorities arrested an entrepreneur for making off with five and a half tons of the Jorge Montt glacier in Patagonia.

And who was this businessman selling to? Well, let's just say they're more likely than most to distinguish old-vine, well-rested, artisanal Pisco from the regular swill.

"Police intercepted a refrigerated truck with an estimated [$6,163] worth of illicit ice... to sell as designer ice cubes in bars and restaurants," the Guardian reported, citing local media. So the Jorge Montt glacier, one of the fastest shrinkings ice formations in the world, has been pummeled in order to help make fancy drinks.

The suspect, who drives a refrigerated truck, could do time for theft. But once he gets out, he can take advantage of the new market he's literally carved for himself: Selling 100% Guaranteed Glacier-Safe Designer Ice. Fancy drinkers love that sustainable shit, amirite?
