Perhaps you have heard the news about this, the most destabilizing political scandal to hit American politics since Teapot Dome: President Obama and Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer had a modest disagreement about her new book, Scorpions for Breakfast, on the tarmac yesterday. The photographers even captured her pointing at him. What is everyone's problem?

When Obama stepped off of Air Force One yesterday, Brewer handed him and envelope with a "handwritten invitation to return to Arizona to meet her for lunch and to join her for a visit to the border." Obama thought Yeah, uh, maybe... and then asked her why she wrote terrible things about him in her book. "I said to him, you know, I have always respected the office of the president and that the book is what the book is," she told reporters afterwards.

Translation: Since when can't we all, the politicians, talk shit about each other in our books and then exchange cutesy letters with each other in person? That is sort of the foundation of our modern political process.

The wingnuts will have now draft Jan Brewer for president as selected in a brokered convention. Or this will be just another fleeting episode of stickin' it to the Kenyan.
