It was announced Friday that private clinics in Britain would be allowed to advertise their planning services, including abortion, on British television starting April 30. It's a right that, until yesterday, had existed only for non-profit clinics.

A spokesperson for BCAP, one of the committees responsible for the new rules, argues that the decision is "about being responsible," but pro-life activists in Britain have already begun to announce their displeasure with the news.

Mark Bhangwandin told the Telegraph, "I have no doubt that we will see a rise in abortions as a result of this."

Nadine Dorries, a Conservative MP finds the development "appalling."

A United States Supreme Court decision reached in Bigelow v. Commonwealth of Virginia prevented "states from prohibiting advertisements of products or conduct that is clearly legal at the place advertised."
