Is Rooney Mara contractually obligated to dress like a monochromatic red carpet version of Lisbeth Salander for the duration of the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo series? Or, over the course of playing Salander, did Rooney discover the starkly sexy killer swizzle stick within?

The hair situation is a bit complicated, but back when she was filming the first movie she told Vogue,

"Before, I dressed much girlier. A lot of blush-colored things. Now I literally roll out of bed and put on whatever is there. I have really enjoyed being a boy this last year."

Months later, I'm now wondering if this transformation is a permanent thing? Will Rooney Mara be Lisbeth Salander forever? Far left, Rooney Mara in April 2010; far right, Roonbeth Marlander at the Golden Globes last night.

Though possibly manufactured in a secret bunker underneath MGM studios, I prefer the latter Rooney. The red carpet gets so boring without the occasional idiosyncratic style freak. [Images via Getty]
