There may be another Bridesmaids movie that has nothing to do with Kirstin Wiig. This is like Laverne and Shirley when there was no Shirley! Where can I send my anger? What is the address to send shit stained wedding dresses in protest? It seems Universal is the culprit.

The movie studio, which grossed $288 million on the $32 million film, apparently ticked off Wiig and her five main costars (Maya Rudolph, secret Australian Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McClendon-Covey, and Ellie Kemper) when they only gave them each a $100K bonus when the critically-acclaimed film did well. Now Wiig tells The Hollywood Reporter she's moving on. "We aren't working on that. Annie [Mumolo, her writing partner] and I aren't planning a sequel. We are writing something else."

Oh, snap. But that doesn't mean Universal isn't going to make Bridesmaids 2, potentially with a story surrounding breakout star McCarthy who won an Emmy for her role (yes, we all know it was technically for Mike & Molly Are Fat, but come on). Universal says, "We are over the moon with the success of Bridesmaids, and if we do a sequel we want to get it right. We are talking to filmmakers now about concepts, and if the right one emerges, we'll move forward."

It's a classic game of Hollywood chicken. Let's see who blinks first, but, I gotta say Bridesmaids needs its Wiig even more than Kim Zolciak does.
