Sasha and Malia Are Banned from Facebook
The Obama White House can be terrible at leading the nation. It's been incredibly soft on Wall Street and often horrible on basic human rights. But it can stand proud on its family Facebook policy! At a time when American parents help sneak their legally underaged kids onto Facebook, Sasha and Malia Obama are quite sensibly told to stay away from the social network.
Sasha, 10, isn't legal for the site under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Malia, 13, is eligible, however. But daddy is having none of it. "Why would we want to have a whole bunch of people who we don't know knowing our business?" the president asked People. "That doesn't make much sense... We'll see how they feel in four years." Eminently reasonable! Everyone should emulate this example of healthy skepticism toward Facebook. Including Obama's underlings in the executive branch, who seem to have forgotten how to regulate the privacy-thieving social network in any meaningful sense.
