The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum has released Nixon's 1975 testimony to a grand jury investigating the criminal conspiracy that was his presidency.

Grand jury testimony usually remains secret in perpetuity, but University of Wisconsin historian Stanley Kutler recently convinced a federal judge that Nixon's testimony is of great historical value and should be published. At the time he testified, Nixon had already resigned in disgrace and been pardoned by his successor, so he had no fear of incriminating himself. But it's highly unlikely that someone as thoroughly self-deluded as Nixon would actually confess to any criminality or be even remotely honest about Watergate, even if he thought what he said would never see the light of day.
