There's Nothing Wrong With the Ridiculous Title of R. Kelly's New Memoir
Eccentric R&B singer R. Kelly has written an autobiography, and it's called Soula Coaster: The Diary of Me. Many have made fun of the title, but it's not all that absurd if you get into his thought process:
See, R. Kelly's life and career have had their ups and downs, much like a roller coaster. But because he's a soul musician, really, it's been more of a soul-er coaster. Except "soul-er coaster" doesn't scan very well in print, and kind of sounds like "solar coaster," which sounds like a solar-powered roller coaster, which would be great for the environment, but certainly not an accurate representation of the "Trapped In The Closet" singer's career. Soula coaster, however – that sounds cool. But on its own, Soula Coaster doesn't say much. It needs a subtitle. Something to really break down what kind of book this is. It's a diary. But of who? Why, of him, of course. So, yeah. All pretty logical.
