Family of Three Calls 911 for Corn Maze Rescue
[There was a video here]
The Today Show got its hands on a harrowing 911 call from a family of three that became trapped in a corn maze in Massachusetts, and needed a rescue squad to get them out of the living labyrinth of hay fever and despair.
The family entered the maze during daylight hours. As darkness fell, they found themselves alone, lost, and increasingly desperate. Would they die at the hands of scythe-wielding demon children in the middle of the night, their cobwebbed corpses lying in wait for the next lost family? Would lethal boredom set in? With fear in her voice, the mother called 911. She called once. She called twice. She called again and again, pleading for rescue!
Lady: Hi, I just called. I'm still stuck at Connors Farms. I don't see anybody. I'm really scared. It's really dark and we've got a 3-week-old baby with us.
Dispatcher: Just relax. Calm down. Your husband's with you, right?
Lady: Yes! But my baby!
Dispatcher: OK, I understand, and the police officer is on the way...
Lady: We thought this would be fun. Instead, it's a nightmare. I dont know what made us do this. It was daytime when we came in. And I never take my daughter out. This is the first time. Never again.
It took the police officers one minute to find them. They were 25 feet from the exit. Why didn't they just part the stalks and walk through? [Today Show]
