The only thing we love more than a good joke are the peals of laughter that follow it. Who doesn't want people to laugh at their jokes? This is difficult to convey over the internet, though.

Yes, laughing at a joke either in the post or the comments is hard to do. Sure there's the standard "LOL" and "Haha!" but they hardly suffice, do they? Until we can find a way to put actual laughter on the internet (maybe in the form of an animated .gif), we'll have to deal with those, I suppose.

But there's another type of laughter that seems to be proliferating in dumber corners of the internet. This is an emphatic string of L's and O's and ha's that goes on for way longer than it should. And it's not usually prompted by someone's joke. It's often the commenter laughing at himself (and what's more annoying than someone who laughs at his own jokes?), or the commenter laughing at the entire universe like he's some sort of deranged Mad Hatter being dragged off to Bedlam. It doesn't help that this manic giggling is usually preceded by the worst sort of banal, idiotic drivel that makes it obvious that these aren't the kind of people we want tittering in our vicinity.

This week Mr. Cardholder and Mr. Doe and NJ Gutter are getting the banhammer for their crazy laughter.

Just for good measure, we're going to give someone else the boot this week because he (she?) seems like the kind of person who has a finger poised over both the L key and the O key and is about to alternate them in infinite succession. That is easy squeasy for what is perhaps the worst single comment I have ever read.

First there's the cap slacking. And the punctuation issues. The she (he?) couldn't even be bothered to spell out Two and a Half Men. Also he (it's gotta be a he) tells another commenter to "get over it," which is a feeble 8th grade argument if I've ever heard one. Finally, yes, Two and a Half Men actually is our greatest folly as a society. If you think otherwise, you apparently know nothing about laughter.

A Few Notes & How to Submit Nominations

All decisions about commenter executions are final. There is no appeal, though bribery is sometimes acceptable depending on the severity of the offense and the amount of the bribe. Executed commenters may be allowed back after a suitable period of exile.

Because this process is to better the community, citizen's arrests for unruly commenters are welcome and encouraged. Executions can be based on a single incident or general and prolonged suckiness. Please submit your nominations to executions@gawker.com.
