My new personal hero is Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y de Silva, better known as the Duchess of Alba. The Spanish royal (and tabloid fixture better known as Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart) is worth between $850 million and $5 billion but she's giving it all away to marry a commoner. Aww.

The Duchess of Alba (DoA?), 85, is set to marry Alfonso Diez, 61, a civil servant who's been her friend for many years. Her six children from two previous marriages (both of her exes died) think that the rather fetching Diez is only after their mother for her money. So to prove them wrong, she's giving her fortune away before they marry. She gave each of children and eight grandchildren either a palace or a chunk of land that her family has controlled for years. What is more glamorous than that? "Here, take this nasty old palace I have lying around! I don't want it anyway." Her eldest son ended up with the Madrid palace and her extensive art collection full of works by old masters like El Greco and Rembrandt.

I just love this lady so much. She's absolutely insane looking and still she found a hottie to fall in love with her at 85 and will give up everything she has just to be with him. It's almost enough to make you believe in love again. Unless this guy really is a gold digger. Then I'll have to hunt him down, kick his ass, and personally carry the Duchess back to her castle or wherever the fuck Spanish gentry live. And while she's giving out palaces, I'm more than willing to take one off her hands.
