Fire at Obama's Martha's Vineyard Retreat
An alarm brought firefighters to Blue Heron Farm — the $50,000-a-week, 28.5 acre property on Martha's Vineyard where the Obamas have spent their summer vacations since 2009 — early Tuesday morning.
The fire was in the wall of the main house near a porch that had a gas grill on it. Firefighters had the fire out within a matter of minutes, [Chilmark fire chief David] Norton said. "Very small, very contained, extinguished quickly," the fire chief said. He said the cause of the fire was the gas grill.
There has not yet been official confirmation that the Obamas are returning to Blue Heron Farm next week, but the White House Press Corps has booked a block of rooms at the nearby Mansion House just in case, and Secret Service agents have been spotted in the vicinity. It's thought the whole "economy swirling down the terlet" thing could curtail the president's vacation plans, if not postpone them entirely. [Politico, image via Getty]
