It's always nice to hear about politicians who respond to their constituents personally. Even if those responses are barely coherent expressions of resentment and ignorance!

Last year, Minnesota State Rep. Tom Hackbarth was found in the parking lot of a Planned Parenthood with a loaded handgun. Not because of abortion, or anything! He was just looking "for a woman he met online," as he explained to WCCO at the time:

"She gave me some line of baloney, and I thought, ‘well, she's fibbing to me.' You could tell, and I thought, ‘well, I'm going to check it out.' and I went there to see if she was around and her vehicle was not there. And I was just checking on her," he said.

Since that particular sequence of events, Hackbarth has "remained mostly silent... especially when reporters [are] nearby." But that silence does not extend to his constituents! One such constituent, a woman named Robin Seifert, wrote Hackbarth to express her support for a tax hike on "the richest two percent of minnesotans"—and Hackbarth, admirably, as any good politician should, wrote her the following email:

Robin,

I can't believe what I'm hearing from folks? All similar letters to yours.

Are you a Union member? If so, are they the communist giving you this propaganda?

Do you know the who, what, when, where, why, and how, of Fidel Castro?

Hitler rose to power using and blaming the jews for the destruction of the German economy. Castro built his army of murderers by blaming the rich bankers and capitalist for destroying Cuba and taking advantage of the Cuban people.

Hummmmm?

Representative Hackbarth.

Hummmmm?
