There was a debate on the floor of the Illinois Senate yesterday about the state's budget crisis, and Republican senate minority leader Christine Radogno got up to make a "point of personal privilege." The point just happened to be a quote from a Wu-Tang Clan song.

The distinguished lady from Illinois said that she got a letter from Wu-Tang rapper Raekwon giving her some economic advice. Instead she read the lyrics from the hip-hop collective's song "C.R.E.A.M.". I'm not quite sure the point she's trying to make, but it wouldn't be far-fetched for a Republican to want to hammer home the fact that "cash rules everything around me." One thing is for sure: We can all blame Gwyneth Paltrow for setting off this week's trend of proper white ladies rapping.
