Colonel Sanders wasn't the only deceased celebrity to be menaced by shady figures. Newly released FBI files say that Tupac and Eazy-E were both the targets of an extortion attempt by the Jewish Defense League, a hardcore right-wing group.

The JDL would reportedly call rappers with death threats, then offer protection for a fee. The file doesn't say whether the scheme was successful.

The number of racist jokes that could and likely will be made about this situation is practically infinite.

UPDATE: Our friends at The Smoking Gun point out that they broke this story in September of 2000. The FBI just put the files on their public "Vault" page, which is why it's in the news again today. Live and learn!
