Leigh Morse, the former director of Salander-O'Reilly Gallery, was acquitted of pocketing $77,000 that belonged to actor Robert De Niro from the sale of his late father's paintings. De Niro even testified in the case last week, but that wasn't enough to convince the jury, apparently.

If De Niro were really like any of his mafia don characters, we'd say Morse should get ready for some street justice about now. But she'll be hard to get to, since she's going to be in the clink for awhile. Morse was convicted of helping her old boss, Lawrence Salander, commit $120 million in art fraud. So they thought she was a crook, just not one that stole from De Niro. Or maybe they were just getting him back for Little Fockers and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle?
