Couple on Worst Blind Date Ever Turn Out to Be Siblings
Cleaner Sarah Kemp and builder George Bentley met over the internet and began a months-long email relationship before agreeing to meet up in person in London. Whereupon the couple discovered that they were long-lost siblings.
As it turned out, Kemp and Bentley had been separated at young ages when their parents divorced in 1975 and Kemp moved with their mother to Edinburgh. (Kemp has a different last name from a year-long marriage in 1989.) The siblings are remarkably good-humored about it:
"To meet your long-lost brother, in a bar, after over 30 years would be something by itself," Kemp said. "But to meet him in those circumstances—on a date, for crying out loud—really is something else. We obviously had far more in common than first thought."
I suppose the nice thing about this happening to you is that even though you just had an online courtship with your long-lost sibling, you've got the built-in consolation prize of finding that long-lost sibling.
