Remember Rick Santorum, former top social conservative senator from Pennsylvania? Well, he's probably running for president. And he just can't stand Barack Obama's position on abortion, which is "almost remarkable for a black man" to have.

The clip's up top, but here's the gist:

Potential 2012 presidential candidate and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) doesn't understand how President Obama could not answer whether a "human life" is protected by the Constitution from the moment of conception: "The question is — and this is what Barack Obama didn't want to answer — is that human life a person under the Constitution? And Barack Obama says no. Well if that person — human life is not a person, then — I find it almost remarkable for a black man to say, 'we're going to decide who are people and who are not people.'"

Ugh! The "Since Barack Obama is black, he should understand X" line of argumentation must never be used. It's so cheap. When Obama was moving slowly (or not at all) on various gay rights issues during his first two years, you'd occasionally read on some gay blogs, "you'd think that since he's black, he'd be more sympathetic to other civil rights movements." And now, with abortion, it's, "you'd think that since he's black, he'd be more appreciative of zygotes," or something. It's not a winning formulation.
