Every year the Christmas event for New York's A gays is the Toys for Tots benefit. Tickets are so in demand for the sold-out event that some people are now charging exorbitant rates for tickets online. What about the kids?

The party was started by Corcoran Group vice president Robby Browne 25 years ago as a way to get gays to donate toys and other gifts for needy children and seniors. Originally the event—held at Chelsea Piers with an all-important open bar—was free to anyone who brought a toy. Several years ago they started charging $30 for tickets. This year the price for the party, which is being held on Friday, went up to $50. (And yes, you still have to bring a toy.) That didn't stop the queens from buying up all the tickets, and they're still so in demand some greedy people are charging double what they paid for them on Craigslist. You try to go doing something good for the children and some people have to come along and make money off of it. Where's the holiday spirit?

"Toys for Tots" is having enough troubles. After 25 years, the Marine Corps, which runs their own Toys for Tots program and is well known for their love of the homosexuals, forced organizers to change the name. While colloquially known as "Fire Island in Sweaters," the party is now officially named Holiday Gifts for Children and Seniors. Damn, couldn't we find one PR gay to come up with a better alternative name? We'll see if that, and the exorbitant ticket prices will put a damper on the party.
