2012 presidential gossip has already driven Sarah Palin into an awesome state of sarcastic fury, hours after Politico wrote — with help from anonymous operatives — that the GOP Establishment wants to destroy her. She really didn't like that article.

Until Republicans have a mathematically clinched presidential nominee after months of primaries in early-mid 2012, operatives and rival campaign staffs will all anonymously leak everything, every little thing, to campaign reporters, around the clock. It's something that, as a candidate, you'll want to get used to and learn to laugh off, especially because you'll be doing the exact same thing to someone else. Remember that story about John Edwards' $400 haircut? Yeah, the venerable Obama campaign manager David Plouffe was the one who leaked that to Politico's Ben Smith, he later revealed. So that kind of stuff, all the time.

But when Sarah Palin saw the first Politico article acknowledging, with sources from all over the GOP universe introducing their plan to crush her chances before they even begin, she did not say "Oh that's silly." She emailed this amazing thing to The Daily Caller:

"The ‘reporters' who continue to cite ‘unnamed GOP-insiders' as hard news sources are deemed impotent by the American public as we rise up and say, ‘The state of journalism today stinks. Let's clean it up and expect some accountability'," Palin wrote in an email to The Daily Caller.

Palin also mocked Politico's use of anonymous sources, saying, "I suppose I could play their immature, unprofessional, waste-of-time game, too, by claiming these reporters and politicos are homophobe, child molesting, tax evading, anti-dentite, puppy-kicking, chain smoking porn producers…really, they are… I've seen it myself…but I'll only give you the information off-the-record, on deep, deep background; attribute these ‘facts' to an ‘anonymous source' and I'll give you more."

The inclusion of "anti-dentite" — a Seinfeld reference, as you people all probably know — is perfect, but what really makes it is the "really, they are... I've seen it myself." That's what all the anonymous operatives say, see?

Nice to see Sarah Palin just riff for once, without all the platitudes about "freedom" and so on. But this is going to be too exhausting to follow if it's an everyday thing.
