Enter the Gawker Halloween Costume Contest—If You Dare
If you're anything like us, you've spent the last few weeks conceptualizing and constructing your Halloween costume. Why let all that hard work go to waste when you could post some pictures here and win a prize?
It's going to be a long weekend of Halloween parties, trick-or-treating, and general merriment, but your outfit can get even more mileage if you share it here with the masses! Submit your Halloween costume photos and a completely biased judging panel of Gawker staffers will chose which costume we think was the most creative and best executed. The winner will receive a copy of the movie Halloween on DVD, a bag of candy corn, a gold star (if you don't already have one), and the admiration of the Gawker commentariat.
Aside from Standard Contest Rules, here are some other guidelines and suggestions to keep in mind:
- Pictures should be from this Halloween. (We have no real way to discern that, though, so we're sticking with the honor system.)
- Pictures of yourself are admissible, as are pictures of your friends, children, neighbors, kids who pester you for candy at your front door, and anyone else whose permission you ask to be put on the internet for possible glory (or shaming).
- Feel free to cover people's eyes or blur their faces to protect identity, but if this obscures part of the costume, you may lose points.
All photos should be placed in the comments section of this post (if you're not already a commenter, become one now) or you can email them to me. Feel free to enter with as many different photos as you'd like. If our Halloween hangover has subsided by Monday afternoon, we'll pick a winner then.
Now get out there and get creative, kids!
Update: The costume contest is now closed and the winners have been announced. However, feel free to continue to add your photos below.
