Phil Davison, unsuccessful GOP candidate for treasurer of Ohio's Stark County, was shocked to hear he'd become famous yesterday after video of his most insane campaign speech ever went viral. Apparently, he's never really been on YouTube before.

TPM interviewed Davison — who, as he emphatically stated in his howling campaign speech, has a "MASTERS DEGREE IN COMMUNICATIONS!!" — and discovered that he's one of those strange, unhealthy citizens who doesn't spend his entire life watching pointless crap on video websites:

"I went home and had a ham sandwich and went to bed and thought that was the end of it," Davison said when reached at home this afternoon. "A friend called, and well, I'm not very good with electronics, is there a YouTube? It was on some kind of electronic server."

Davison said his phone has been ringing off the hook today — mostly friends and family calling to tell him he'd gone viral. Not that he really knows what the means. He uses email, but wasn't familiar with YouTube.

WHAT? Get this guy to a mental institution! Or perhaps a computer lab? Think of all the wacky cat videos he has to catch up on, for Christ's sake. Like that one where the dumb cat stares at the thing for a while and then falls or poops or whatever. He can start there.
