Freedom, the most groundbreaking book about white people since Jonathan Franzen's last book, isn't released until August 31. But Amazon.com reportedly put the whole thing online yesterday by accident. Anybody grab a copy? It's only newsworthy three more days. [Updated]

UPDATE: Jeff Seroy, SVP of publicity at Franzen's publisher, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, emails us: "We have come across no evidence to support the claim made in the New York Post's item this morning. Everyone we know who checked the book out on Amazon yesterday could called up the first 63 pages only, which included the jacket and frontmatter. At this point, I would advise you to consider the Post's story hearsay."

Further clarification: "Our default arrangement with Amazon Search Inside is up to 10% of the content of the book exclusive of frontmatter and backmatter. If you use a calculator, that's what the 63 pages works out to, pretty much. We like the exceprts to end at an appropriate text break of some kind. Amazon will revert to that next Tuesday."
