Rep. Michele Bachmann, founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, is now starting a political action committee, Michele PAC. The only problem: staffers responsible for registering it, who don't know how to spell her name.

The "Michele" in "Michele PAC" is, terribly enough, an acronym for "Many Individual Conservatives Helping Elect Leaders Everywhere." An impressively linear statement of purpose, to be sure. By July 30th, shortly after its registration, the PAC had already raised thousands of dollars in contributions from anti-abortion groups.

But Michele PAC's organizers had a filing problem early on: specifically, the most common misspelling among political bloggers:

"Michelle PAC" submitted its "Statement of Organization" on July 28 with the FEC, according to documents filed with the agency. The only problem is that Michele Bachmann spells her name with one "L," not two.

Two days later, evidently having figured out the mistake, Barry Arrington, the committee's treasurer filed paperwork correcting the mistake.

They got to correct an application error with the feds? The filers in New Jersey's education department must be so jealous.
