On Friday, Haiti's electoral committee disqualified New Jersey resident Wyclef Jean from running for president, and he issued a statement saying, "I respectfully accept the committee's final decision." That respect was short-lived, because he's now going to appeal the ruling.

Jean told the AP on Sunday that he has a document "which shows everything is correct" and that he and his aides "feel that what is going on here has everything to do with Haitian politics."

Imagine that... an electoral decision that has everything to do with politics. Crazy! He's going to unleash his lawyers on the committee tomorrow. Obviously Jean has what it takes to lead a destitute nation to greatness, otherwise he wouldn't be challenging the committee's ruling. He's a Grammy award winner, people!

Jean's statement after the ruling on Friday evening:

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you today that the board of elections in Haiti has disqualified me from my run for the presidency of the country. Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee's final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same. We must all honor the memories of those we've lost—whether in the earthquake, or at anytime—by responding peacefully and responsibly to this disappointment.

So much for all of that "respect," it's the Wyclef Jean Show, now. Who cares about what's best for the people of Haiti? Wyclef is famous.
