Interested in joining us here at Gawker? We're currently looking to add two people to the team, and we're also seeking another intern to join us for the summer.

FULL-TIME POSITIONS

Senior Editor
As senior editor, you'll be responsible for assigning and editing stories and working with the editor-in-chief to keep the site humming along on a day to day basis.

Requirements: You should have at least 5 years of editorial experience, including assigning and editing text, and familiarity with both print and the web. You should be incredibly web savvy and the sort of person who spots trends a mile away. You can happily rewrite a paragraph and make it shine in a minute or less. The idea of working in an extremely fast-paced editorial environment under heavy deadline pressure excites you and doesn't daunt you. You love a good, juicy story. You're not afraid of pissing people off (when they deserve it, of course). You're detail-oriented. But you're also comfortable juggling a million and one tasks at the same time. Online publishing software, social media, basic HTML, and graphic design software is all stuff you're intimately familiar with. (And if you don't know something, you can teach yourself in an evening.) You're good with people. You have ideas. Good ones, hopefully. And you're based in NYC. (Obviously, this job requires you to work from Gawker HQ in Manhattan.) The salary is very competitive; full benefits are included.

To apply: Email a resume and short note explaining why you're suited for the position to jobs@gawker.com. Please include links to articles you've written as well as a link to your blog if you have one.

Reporter
As a reporter, you'll be responsible for producing reported stories for Gawker as well as writing shorter one-off pieces throughout the day.

Requirements: You should have at least three years of experience reporting for a daily/weekly newspaper or website. Breaking news excites you. Working for a stuffy old newspaper does not. You're a natural gossip and love recounting a good story. You understand the web—and the pace of online journalism—and you're comfortable working quickly. But you also understand that getting the story right is paramount. Experience with online publishing software is a big plus. Passion and energy is non-negotiable. The salary is very competitive; full benefits are included.

To apply: Email a resume and short note explaining why you're suited for the position to jobs@gawker.com. Please include links to articles you've written as well as a link to your blog if you have one.

PART-TIME INTERNSHIP

Don't have plans this summer? Good news: We're looking for an energetic and driven editorial intern to join us immediately.

What we're looking for: Sharp, engaged college students or recent grads who read constantly and are fully conversant in the ways of the web. Previous internship experience at a newspaper, magazine, or web site is preferred, as is familiarity with the software tools of our trade.

Our internships do not involve making copies, sending faxes, or fetching coffee. They are educational in nature and involve working with Gawker writers on stories, conducting research, and helping out on various exciting special projects.

The schedule is flexible, but we ask that you be willing to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours a week. You'll need to be available to work from our office in NYC. And you'll need to be available now. (This means if you live in Alaska, or you're planning to move to NYC on September 1, this internship is not for you.) College internship credit is available to those who qualify. There may be a small stipend, too.

To apply: Send an email to editintern@gawker.com with a brief description of your relevant experience as well as any links you'd like us to review. Include a short paragraph on what you like and don't like about Gawker. We look forward to hearing from you. Just note that due to the large volume of emails, we won't be able to respond to most applicants. No attachments, please.
