Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron is shocked that the "morons" at BP rejected his offer to show them how to solve the oil spill. He directed a movie about a maritime crisis, once, why wouldn't they want his wisdom?

Cameron's experience filming Titanic is actually the argument for using him in the clean-up. It even makes a little bit of sense! The New York Daily News reports:

The award-winning director of Avatar and Titanic said Wednesday that BP had rejected his offer to help fight the massive oil spill spewing in the Gulf of Mexico, reports Reuters.

"Over the last few weeks, I've watched, as we all have, with growing horror and heartache, watching what's happening in the Gulf and thinking those morons don't know what they're doing," Cameron said at the All Things Digital tech conference.

Cameron has done extensive work with robot submarines and underwater filming in his movies.

They would've hired you, James, but at the time they were still entertaining the nuclear option, so they went with Michael Bay instead. It's not like BP has any better ideas, so why not take the Hollywood route? We'll soak it up with bloated egos. [NYDN, image via Getty]
