These Chocolate Truffles Were Stuffed With $500,000 Worth of Cocaine
Earlier this month, customs officials at JFK arrested Robert Lopera when he arrived from Colombia on an Avianca flight with an enormous load of candies and nuts. Inside the treats were another sort of delicacy: Cocaine. A lot of cocaine.
Customs officials found more than $500,000 worth of cocaine hidden in chocolates and nuts that Lopera, a U.S. citzen, tried to bring into the country. 15 pounds of the stuff were seized altogether. This was on May 11th, so maybe it was just a belated Mother's day present for his mom? Cocaine-stuffed chocolates are a way more thoughtful gift than what I got my mom. (Just cocaine.) [NBC New York]
