Douglas Hannant
A fashion designer to aging, millionaire socialites, Hannant's clients reside almost exclusively in the 10021 zip code.
Hannant was raised in Illinois and moved to New York in 1988 to take classes at FIT. He went on to design displays for Barneys and Bloomingdale's, and in 1996 launched his own clothing collection. Unlike many designers, though, Hannant didn't set out to design skimpy little dresses for 19-year-olds to wear on the catwalk. He filled his line with the sorts of classic outfits that would appeal to older social women with charity functions to attend and these days, Hannant works the New York, Palm Beach, and Hamptons axis, charging between $8,000 and $10,000 for one of his custom suits. Although he admirably tried to spice up his image with the diffusion line Pink, he still mostly caters to the likes of Audrey Gruss, Tiffany Dubin, Valesca Guerrand-Hermès, Pamela Gross, Lally Weymouth, Gigi Mortimer, and Debbie Bancroft.
Hannant met his business and romantic partner, Frederick Anderson, when they were both students at FIT. After dating for over twenty years, however, the pair split in 2012. [Image via Getty]
