A former middling star on the social scene, Bryan is the executive fashion director at Lucky magazine.

Born in Houston, Alexis is the daughter of Shelby Bryan, the telecommunications exec who minted a small fortune when he founded one of the first cell phone companies in the 1980s. It wasn't her dad's money that vaulted Alexis into the social swirl, though; it was his courtship of Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Amid much tabloid hubbub, both Wintour and Bryan left their respective spouses in the late 1990s. They've been together ever since and although the couple has yet to tie the knot, Alexis is, for all intents and purposes, Wintour's stepdaughter, a position that has provided her with easy entre to the upper echelons of fashion, media, and society. In the span of a few short years, the eager scenester went from <em<Vanity Fair intern to executive fashion editor. She eventually left <em<Vanity Fair and headed over to Elle, where she took over for Nina Garcia as fashion director in early 2010. After ten short months, she leapfrogged back to Condé Nast as executive fashion director of Lucky.
