Linda Wells
A protégé of the late Carrie Donovan, Wells has been the editor-in-chief of Allure since it was founded in 1991.
A Trinity College grad, Wells began her career in journalism at Vogue, where she wrote on topics from beauty to nutrition and fitness. A few years later she moved to work as a reporter at the New York Times and ultimately became beauty and food editor for New York Times Magazine. By the early ‘90s she focused her sole attention on the beauty world, founding and acting as editor-in-chief of Allure magazine, the ultimate beauty bible. At the post for over twenty years, Wells somehow manages her editors to churn more and more issues out of "how to apply lipstick" and "manage frizz." She even found enough material to write her first book, Confessions of a Beauty Editor, in 2006. [Image via Getty]
