Bernie Madoff's sons and brother face charges of criminal tax-fraud. (They are also accused of totally knowing about Bernie's fraud, because they all deposited like ten bucks in their "investment accounts" and then withdrew several millions of dollars.)

Don't you need a social security number to open an "investment account?" So how did the IRS miss someone depositing $10 and withdrawing SEVERAL MILLION BUCKS when they manage to catch my $5.32 in interest that I earn from a pathetic savings account?

@MrInBetween: I don't think the IRS cares how one makes a profit or why or how much...all the IRS cares about is if all the taxes are paid on the profit.

Like the IRS didn't care one bit about Al Capone's rackets except they weren't getting their cut from the profits.

If he had just paid all his taxes he never would have gone to jail.
