A pair of lesbian albatrosses welcomed a male albatross into their home; he impregnated one, then flew away. The ladies took turns sitting on the egg and are now raising their gayby "the same as any male-female pair would."

The male albatross has since disappeared (sperm donor or deadbeat?) from the New Zealand breeding colony where the mothers nest. Though the park has never seen gay albatross moms befores, elsewhere on New Zealand's Otago Peninsula, a pair of male penguins are currently incubating an egg in a zoo. This has been your daily update on the status of avian civil rights. [Telegraph] [Pic via]
