Private investigator Joseph Culligan registered williamclinton.com, williamjclinton.com, and presidentbillclinton.com back in the 1990s, partly to prove the point of how easy it is to snatch up domain names. Clinton recently tried to get them back, and yesterday he lost.

Clinton filed a complaint against Culligan last month with an arbitration panel claiming that the names were his trademarks and that Culligan had registered them in bad faith. Culligan, a private eye who operates Web of Deception, set the URLs up to redirect to the Republican National Committee.

Yesterday, the arbitration panel ruled against Clinton, finding that although he did own the trademarks, Culligan had not acted in bad faith in snapping them up.

Culligan says he has no further plans for the URLs.
