Chris Brown Sorry About Rihanna Incident
Without admitting anything specific, Chris Brown apologized for "what transpired" with Rihanna, the girlfriend he allegedly attacked right before the Grammys. Savvy timing, jerk.
Brown recently hired a crisis-management team, and he appears to be getting his money's worth: By apologizing in the middle of a three-day weekend, the R&B singer will keep news of his admission of guilt relatively buried. Here's his statement, via Hollyscoop:
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," he said. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."
Brown added in his statement: "Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong.
"While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."
Since Brown isn't owning up to the specifics of what happened, he's going to have to make some kind of embarrassing statement again when details emerge. Most media reports indicate Rihanna's face was bruised, at a minimum. Beating a girlfriend? Even the best flacks are not going to be able to rescue Brown's career from that. The best Brown can hope for is damage control, i.e. making the public hate him slightly less, somehow.
