John McCain will tell David Letterman tonight about how corrupt Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich was a huge admirer of the former Republican presidential nominee, and planned to model his tenure on McCain's. Mission accomplished!

Let's see: Blaggy saw sacrificed big reform plans and MAVERICK reputaiton at the altar of personal ambition... Sounds like he measured up to his idol quite nicely.

Of course McCain's legacy was stronger, and he took his time undermining it, one slow step at a time, in the long run-up to this year's presidential election. In the bonus Late Show clip below, he tells Letterman the sad tale of how a Vietnamese statue depicting him as an "air pirate" will be the only memorial built for him, ever.
