Fashion Week Recap
You'll find a recap of the last 24 hours or so of Fashion Week after the jump.
- Marc Jacobs' show at the Armory on Monday evening earned raves from critics ("exceptional for its imagination, its attention to detail and its lyrical vision of a sweet summer," wrote Suzy Menkes.) Lady Gaga and Madonna (accompanied by Jesus Luz) made appearances. And the show was totally punctual, too. [NYT, WSJ, WWD, FWD, IHT]
- Jacobs' after-party at Hiro, which was hosted by V magazine, was the place to be on Monday night. Chaos reigned outside and it was close to impossible to get onto the list (although a few party crashers found their way in). And the big highlight was Lady Gaga's brief but very memorable performance. [Style.com, WWD, Cut, FWD]
- Spotted at the Max Azria show: Lucy Liu, Leigh Lezark, Tinsley Mortimer, Kelly Rowland, Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin, and Mickey Rourke, strangely. [WWD]
- Rodarte brought out Courtney Love, Kirsten Dunst, Jason Schwartzman, and Elijah Wood. Photos are here. [WSJ, WWD, NBC]
- On hand for Badgley Mischka: Fran Drescher, a Real Housewife, and an former American Idol contestant. [Cut, WWD, NYP]
- Narciso Rodriguez's show took place on Tuesday evening. He's also introducing a line called "Narciso Rodriguez for eBay" this spring. The clothes will sell for less than $350. [WSJ, WSJ]
- Elsewhere: The Times reviews Donna Karan, Thakoon, Chris Benz and Hourani; WWD and the WSJ on Brian Reyes. A couple of takes on Halston. And a review of Betsey Johnson's show at the Plaza Hotel.
- The Snuggie fashion show took place today. Ross the Intern (from the old Tonight Show) played host; a grand total of about 20 people turned up. If you're feeling brave, you'll find photos here. [Cut, AP]
- Another bizarre sight this Fashion Week: porn star Ron Jeremy, who's been attending shows and has been hitting on the ladies with the pick-up line, "Are you a model?" [NYP]
- It's possible that the celebrity clothing line trend hasn't petered out, after all. Potentially great news for Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Montag, Daisy Fuentes, and Cloris Leachman, clearly. [LAT]
- Tom Ford's debut film got very solid reviews at the Venice Film Festival last week. And now it's been purchased by Harvey Weinstein at the Toronto Film Festival. [WWD, Hollywood Reporter]
- Nicky Hilton's secret to making sure she doesn't miss anything at Fashion Week? She stays across the street from the tents in a $600-a-night room at the Bryant Park Hotel, even though she typically prefers staying at Waldorf when she's in NYC. [NYP]
