To Sell To Republicans, Use the Word "Conservative"
Do terms like conservative and liberal actually mean anything, or are they just empty labels that people toss around? Frequently the latter, says a group of Columbia University psychologists.
In a series of experiments, the researchers found that when committed Democrats and Republicans were asked to choose investments, Republicans "consistently chose options labeled "conservative," regardless of whether the strategy was actually risky or cautious," and regardless of the fact that being politically conservative has zip to do with conservative investing—as the small matter of who's to blame for Western capitalism's implosion has proven.
