CARLY Simon axed Woody Allen from "Love of My Life," the song she wrote before his lousy headlines dumping Mia Farrow for her adopted daughter Soon-Yi. She's changed the line: "I love lilacs and avocados, ukeleles and fireworks and Woody Allen." She now uses Mia's name instead of Woody's. Hey, let's hear it for Carly ...

Strangely, there's no mention of a Radar item from last week that tells almost the exact same story.

Simon, a close friend of Farrow's who frequently defended her in the press during the nasty custody battle that ensued, released a new album last week, Into White. Among the songs on it is a remake of her 1992 ballad "Love of My Life," whose first stanza contains the lines, "I love lilacs and avocados / Ukuleles and fireworks / And Woody Allen."

That song, which originally appeared on the soundtrack of Nora Ephron's This Is My Life, was recorded in August 1991—one year before the revelations about Allen and Previn's affair (and the subsequent allegation by Farrow that Allen had molested their adopted daughter, Dylan, then 7).

The new version of the song substitutes Farrow's name for Allen's—making it perfectly clear whose side Simon is on.

It also makes it perfectly clear how Cindy does her reporting. But we should look on the bright side: Not many people her age even know how to use the Internet.
