Damn, you people know a lot about pot. The flood of tips engendered by our solicitation for expert advice on current spot pricing resulted in a number of e-mails, but our favorite came late in the day:

I used to work for a now-defunct delivery service in Manhattan in the early years of the millenium. Runners would be dispatched by pager all over the city (from 96th street down, naturally). The going price was $60 for a 2 gram box of hydroponic ( Cannabis Cup winning varieties like Juicy Fruit, White Widow, White Rhino, Blueberry, AK47, Humboldt Harvest, Bulldozer, G13). At $30 a gram, the price per ounce would be $810, so certainly $560 is nowhere close to the most expensive weed that exists, unless there were a volume discount. A funny blind item anecdote: Among many other low-grade celebs, I once delivered to the editor-in-chief of a certain magazine that rhymes with "Retails". Apropos of wide speculation as to the sexual proclivities of its readership, this editor chose a box of the cannabis varietal named "Closet Queen".

I had 4 dealers over my years in NYC, I've never paid more than 50 for whatever size it was, no clue on gram weight, all I know it smelled like heaven, sometimes it smelled like fruit, sometimes like frankensense (sp!!) I called it church pot. Apart from the one guy in manhattan all three of my Queens dealers, one of whom I made out with/groped pretty much every time he came by, christ he was so hot, and I am so Not, drove right up to my row house on the safest block in Astoria god bless em. I ran down, grabbed the goods and see ya.

I got weed delivered on Christmas eve, 9/11 and every other day I needed it. These people know the meaning of service. Friendly, fair and always there.

Unfortch one of them died a couple years back, the 9/11 dealer, a sweet, hot greek guy, of a double coronary. He was only 29. I still miss him.

When I moved out to Detroit the price stayed the same but the quantitiy doubled easily. Much much harder to find good stuff though. Most of it sucks unless you're well connected. I don't smoke anymore for job reasons but when I get back to NYC you bet your ass I'll be finding a new source, and it'll probably take a day. I found temp dealers on craigslist for god's sake.

That's one wonderful thing about NY anyone will give you their source if you're not a total douche.

Not to be redundant, but the $60 box of 2 grams is priced like that because you, my self obsessed New Yorker, are paying extra for the service. Nobody buys bulk from the services unless they're clueless.

If you do happen to buy bulk the service reduces the costs. Who in their right minds would pay $810 for an ounce?

Haze is so NOT the bottom of the barrell in NYC. real haze is the bombazee...awesome aroma/flavor, strong clear high...lacking the Euro pedigree of G13 or white widow but very, very efective. TAN needs to do ghetto pass entry on haze alone. If you live above 125, haze is KING....sour diesel is the contender

Wow, and I thought Japan was expensive! A gram costs on average $30, but as is the case with all transactions here, a little bartering can get big discounts. Currently got myself 3 grams for $65! And $810 for an ounce? Glad I don't know your dealer!
