In a pre-taped interview set to air on Ellen DeGeneres' show today (TMZ has the video), Hollywood's highest paid TV comedy star, Charlie Sheen, appears to have found it in his heart to mend fences with ex-wife Denise Richards, despite still harboring some traces of bitterness over that time she announced to the world that he's an abusive, jailbait internet porn junkie and online hook-up addict. Sheen even goes so far as to reluctantly approve the new guy in her life, Richie Sambora:

Asked by DeGeneres how things are going with Richards, 35, Sheen, 40, says, "We're trying to put all that nonsense aside and just do what's right for the children and just be good responsible parents." [...]

"Well, at least I knew the guy that she wound up with, Richie. To know that it's somebody decent and smart and a good parent to be around your children, that's a good thing."

That's a far more magnanimous take on the pairing than Sheen's initial reaction to the first published photos of the couple back in April, when he delivered the definitive Bon Jovi-inspired sound bite on the matter to Entertainment Tonight: "Those two give love a bad name." Clearly, the wound-mending salve of time and perspective has softened the actor to the point where he no longer even feels compelled to drunkenly order up his dozen favorite cheerleader escorts to swing by his house and ask of them, "Could you do that cheer that goes '2, 4, 6, 8, Denise is a whore and Sambora's got a tiny dick?'"
