Viiv killed the Intel star: Exec alleged to be dead man walking
Has convergence claimed another life? A reader asks about the head of Intel's digital home division:
Is it true Eric Kim from Intel is more or less just out the door, and in the "departure lounge" at Intel? What did this guy do to deserve it?
If he's really about to get kicked, "what this guy did" is launch the failed Intel Viiv. The Viiv was supposed to be a media convergence device ("They'll build living rooms around it!"), but like every other media device from a computer company, it tanked. Surely that's not his fault, but it's an accepted tactic in a war of attrition to blame the general and fire him. (Hell, Abraham Lincoln did it for years.)
