This Week in Commenter Executions
Overlooked in all the excitement during our one-day commenter invitation free-for-all was the note that banning of commenters would become "much more arbitrary and punitive, and such banning may be accompanied by public ridicule and execution." Well, guess what time it is? May we present commenters who have been banned, as of right now, for the following criminal trespasses:
Executed: T.
Crime: Making us feel bad about our unfinished novel manuscript, defending Ann Coulter.
Executed: Nichelle
Crime: Blatantly and pointlessly name-dropping a party that she no doubt wasn't even invited to.
Executed: JulianWells
Crime: Not being clear on the concept.
Disputants may consults the Gawker Comments FAQ, section 5. However, note also that this manner of death isn't really permanent. Just as in the past, banned commenters may return through invitations or through future general amnesties. Existing commenters should also feel free to nominate other commenters for future bannings; doing so will, of course, raise one's own potential banning profile. Let the Orwellian paranoia commence.
