Last week's hubbub about Google's side products (sparked by BusinessWeek's story "So Much Fanfare, So Few Hits") culminated in a much-buzzed-about piece by Microsoft blogger Don Dodge, called "Google a one trick pony?" To Don's credit, his actual post was balanced, but his headline set hotter heads spinning and blogging their own "Google is dead" pieces.

Please, does every item about Google have to speak death or dominance? Sure, there's a real story here: not every company should fear Google horning in on their market — just the search companies should. But think about it: that one trick Google's got will bring down the house every time.
