For the true warhorses of celebrity PR, there is no scandal so damaging (short perhaps of some video surfacing of their client dumping a duffel bag of hooker body parts over a steep embankment off Mulholland Drive) that its bad publicity can't be reversed. Charlie Sheen's reps, for example, seem to have been doing an impressive job of leaking favorable items to the press, but now it's time to move on to the more ambitious, second phase of their image rehabilitation plan. The Palm Beach Post's Page Two gossip column reports:

Brooke Mueller, daughter of Palm Beach socialite Moira Fiore, has been stepping out with bad-boy actor Charlie Sheen and identified in the Inside Edition-type TV shows as his new squeeze.

Well, squeeze may no longer be right. Fiore tells Page Two that she and hubby John Fiore traveled to the Left Coast last week to be introduced to Sheen, 40. And Fiore says Sheen had Brooke meet his mom and dad, West Wing star Martin Sheen and Janet, on Mother's Day.

"I've never seen my daughter happier," Fiore said. "She told me they laugh morning, noon and night, and that she's never been more comfortable with someone. Charlie says he loves her personality and, of course, her looks. As a mother, if they're happy, I'm happy."

Nothing dissipates the acrid stench that follows accusations of spousal abuse and a jailbait porn addiction better than dinner with your new sweetie's high-society folks. Still, Sheen's handlers realized that any positive spin reaped from the staged event could be easily lost with a single misstep, so they carefully prepped him to not pester his girlfriend's mother with detailed questions about "that time she went to cheerleader's camp," or to suggest that her daughter probably "looked great in pigtails."
