We just received in our inbox Time Inc. chief John Huey's announcement of three high-level promotions at Entertainment Weekly. The news — Jay Woodruff to managing editor of EW.com, Henry Goldblatt to executive editor responsible for front-of-book, and Mark Harris to executive editor responsible for film coverage — was reported in the Post this morning, so we were finding the memo rather uninteresting. Until we noticed a certain snippet of each man's bio caught our eye:

Jay lives in Glen Ridge, NJ, with his wife Sarah and their three kids, Joe, Sam, and Annie.... Henry lives in Chelsea with his boyfriend, Doug Cohn.... Mark lives on the Upper West Side with his husband, Tony Kushner.

And suddenly it's surprising that DNR found EW to be only the second-gayest magazine.

The full memo is after the jump.

Re: EW Announcement

It is my pleasure to announce, on the recommendation of Entertainment Weekly Managing Editor Rick Tetzeli, the promotion of Jay Woodruff to Managing Editor, EW.com, and the promotions of Henry Goldblatt and Mark Harris to Executive Editor.

The goal for ew.com is simple: to become as much of a draw for entertainment lovers (especially EW readers) as the magazine itself. Jay Woodruff is uniquely suited to lead the redesign and re-launch of this Website. He is a first-rate storyteller, he's quick to respond to the news, and he gets the magazine's quirky, opinionated take on pop culture. He's also incredibly organized, a rigorous story editor, and a talent magnet who will no doubt draw the best writers from the magazine staff to contribute to ew.com. Jay lives in Glen Ridge, NJ, with his wife Sarah and their three kids, Joe, Sam, and Annie.

Henry Goldblatt has had a slew of jobs over the course of his ten-year Time Inc. career. At Fortune he covered telecom and media, wrote and then edited the front-of-the-book, and put together several special packages, including the magazine s Cool Companies feature. Since moving over to EW with Rick three years ago, Henry has completely reinvented the magazine's TV coverage. He's now in the process of revitalizing EW s News & Notes section, making it both newsier and more fun. He's a great mentor and story editor, with patience and judgment that belie his age. Henry lives in Chelsea with his boyfriend, Doug Cohn.

Mark Harris has been at EW since the very beginning. He is a prolific, acute, and astute writer, with an outrageously wide-ranging knowledge of pop culture-there ought to be a Website called markharris.com where you could get all your pop trivia questions answered. As an editor, he has run pretty much everything at the magazine, and has mentored many of EW's best young writers and editors. He is the driving force behind many of the magazine's sharpest trend stories. Mark's currently on sabbatical, writing a book about the movies in 1967. When he returns in May, he'll supervise the magazine's movie coverage. Mark lives on the Upper West Side with his husband, Tony Kushner.
